Garmisch would not
generally be considered by the advanced, however it does give you the
opportunity of ticking a few boxes such as skiing in Germany, skiing on
Germany's highest mountain (The Zugspitz), skiing an Olympic venue and the
chance to visit a mountain/area with a very rude name! Garmisch is also handy to get to from Munich so a good choice for a long weekend if not a full week, although there are other small resorts close by so could be, with use of a car. The lift system could do with a little investment but the views form the Zugspitz are well worth the trip. The town itself is very pleasant with some nice little bars full of Bavarian charm & customs. A special mention must go to the Atlas Grand Hotel - Superb service and fantastic food - Highly Recommended. |
