“Megève is heaven for skiers who like to change the scenery on the mountain every day before being looked after in five-star style every evening. Megève might not be so popular as it was in its heyday in the 1960s, overshadowed as it is by nearby Chamonix and La Clusaz, but it is still a classic example of a mid-Alps French resort. The centre oozes French charm, with deserted streets wrapped around the quaintest town square you’ll ever see, and a predominance of upmarket clothes shops and restaurants. “
We skied at part of Megève in 2007, La Giettaz to be precise as the link over was closed due to excess snowfall. Staying in La Clusaz, it was a short car journey over and we spent more time sending Ade back to the ticket office to ask further questions than we did skiing. Our rating of two stars would likely jump to four if we had got to ski the whole area.
